Tyjae Spears Cleared to Play: Key Reinforcement for the Titans
The Tennessee Titans activate running back Tyjae Spears from the injured reserve list, the team announced before Sunday’s game in Arizona.Spears was placed on the injured reserve list after suffering a sprained ankle in the first preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 9. The injury occurred just before halftime, when Spears caught a pass from the backfield for a 13-yard gain. Spears underwent a procedure on his ankle before beginning the rehabilitation process. He worked on a sideline during the last few weeks with the Titans’ trainers. Titans coach Brian Callahan stated before the season that he wanted a more balanced workload distribution between Spears and Tony Pollard, who had 260 carries last season.“I’m very excited,” Spears declared on Friday. “The emotions have been building throughout the week and I can’t wait to get back on the field.”

The Titans also placed safety Mike Brown on the injured reserve list due to a knee injury. Wide receiver James Proche II and defensive back Kendall Brooks were elevated from the practice squad for the game day.“In a perfect world, it would be a healthier division of labor [between Pollard and Spears],” Callahan said in July. “I really like both players. I think we can do a better job managing that workload so that they both play a little more evenly.”
