McLaren’s dominance in Formula 1, after winning five of the six races of the season and securing a resounding 1-2 finish in Miami, has put the team under intense scrutiny, according to Christian Horner, Red Bull’s team principal.

Oscar Piastri leads the championship for McLaren, followed by his teammate Lando Norris, while George Russell of Mercedes, in third place, was more than half a minute behind.

The tire temperature management was a recurring theme, with questions about McLaren’s ability to keep them under control.

McLaren leads with a 105-point advantage over Mercedes.

Toto Wolff, Mercedes’ boss, admitted that McLaren has demonstrated better tire management.

They are definitely doing an excellent job of being able to go fast in the corners without overheating them [the tires]. So this is what we need to look for and design our way.

Wolff praised the integrity of McLaren’s leaders, Brown, Andrea Stella and Rob Marshall, and attributed their success to superior development and a better understanding of tire management.
