Ireland captain Caelan Doris could miss the summer with the British & Irish Lions due to injury.
Leinster team confirmed this Monday that Doris will undergo surgery on his shoulder this week.
Sources indicate that Doris will miss the rest of the URC season.
The surgery is scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday.
Despite the injury, it has not yet been determined whether Andy Farrell will include him in the Lions squad, which will be announced on Thursday.
Before the injury, number 8 was a strong candidate to captain the Lions on their tour of Australia this year.
Leinster confirmed that the 27-year-old player needs surgery after suffering an injury against Northampton Saints on Saturday.
The full extent of the injury and the implications for the summer will not be known until after the procedure.
