Napheesa Collier Suffers Significant Ankle Injury
Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier suffered an injury that will keep her off the court for a considerable time. According to sources close to the situation, Collier suffered a grade 2 tear in three ligaments in her ankle and a muscle injury in her shin.
The injury occurred during an encounter with the Phoenix Mercury forward, Alyssa Thomas, in a recent game.
The minimum estimated recovery period for Collier is six weeks. This means that, in case the Lynx had advanced in the series against the Mercury, Collier would not have been able to return for the rest of the season.
The Phoenix Mercury eliminated the Lynx, who were affected by Collier’s absence, in the fourth game of the series.
In addition, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve was ejected from the third game and received a one-game suspension due to her reaction to the play in which Collier was injured.
