San Jose Sharks Correcting Error in Celebratory Banner
The San Jose Sharks are in the process of correcting an error on one of the recently installed banners at the SAP Center. This banner, which celebrated a non-existent achievement, has caused a stir among fans. With the start of the NHL season, the Sharks renovated the banners hanging from the stadium ceiling. The new designs feature a smaller team logo and a larger font. In addition, the team’s six division titles were condensed into a single banner, instead of the previous six individual ones. However, one particular banner caught the attention of fans during Sunday’s preseason game against the Vegas Golden Knights. The banner celebrated the Sharks winning the Presidents’ Trophy in the 2015-16 season, an award given to the team with the best regular season record in the NHL.Sharks president Jonathan Becher stated on Sunday that it was a “printing error” which the team was already aware of. Becher stated that the Sharks “have already requested a replacement banner”.
