Elina Svitolina Ends Tennis Season for Emotional Reasons
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, who reached number 3 in the world, has announced that she will end her tennis season earlier than expected. The decision is based on her current emotional state, according to the player herself.
Svitolina explained in a social media post that she is not feeling her best. “I haven’t felt like myself lately,” she stated, adding that she doesn’t feel ready to compete and therefore, is ending her season.

Currently ranked number 13 in the ranking, Svitolina feels the need to take some time to rest and recharge. “When I return to the court,” she assured, “I want to fight with everything I have and give my best for the fans, for the sport, and for myself.”
The 2025 season for Svitolina was notable, with a 35-14 record and a title at the WTA 250 clay tournament in Rouen, France, in April. She also reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and Roland Garros.
However, after reaching the quarterfinals in Montreal, he suffered defeats in his first match in Cincinnati and in the first round of the US Open.
After her defeat in Montreal, Svitolina reported having received online abuse from frustrated gamblers.
Last week, Svitolina led Ukraine to the semifinals of the Billie Jean King Cup in China, where they ultimately fell to Italy.
Svitolina, 31, is married to French tennis player Gael Monfils, with whom she has a daughter, Skai, born in 2022.
Brazilian tennis player Beatriz Haddad Maia also announced that she will end her 2025 season to take a break.
