Mike Trout Hits 400th Home Run in Historic Milestone

In a challenging season for Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels, the baseball star reached a historic milestone on Saturday. The three-time American League Most Valuable Player and 11-time All-Star, hit his 400th career home run in the eighth inning against the Colorado Rockies. The 485-foot hit to left-center field, the product of a 98 mph sinker from Rockies reliever Jaden Hill, extended the Angels’ lead to 3-0, the final score of the game. This victory ended an eight-game losing streak.

It’s one of the things that were on the list at the beginning of the season. I’m happy it happened. Obviously, I’m enjoying it. It’s a shame the family wasn’t here, but they saw it on television. My kids at home, my two sons, and my wife were able to watch it on television. My friends and family back home in Jersey, they can stop sending me messages to connect the 400. It means a lot to me.

This home run was the tenth longest at Coors Field, known for favoring hitters, since the arrival of Statcast in 2015 and the fourth longest in Trout’s career. He also hit a 484-foot home run in April, meaning he has two of the three longest home runs in MLB this season.

After the game, Trout received the ball from the fan who caught it. Trout gave the fan, his wife, and their two small children three autographed bats and two autographed balls and, at the fan’s request, briefly played catch with him on the field.

Once they are older and realize it, it will be an incredible memory for the father to tell the children, for them to experience it. I know how I felt when I went to a baseball game with my father.

Trout became the 59th player in MLB history with at least 400 home runs and the third player to reach the mark wearing an Angels uniform, joining Dave Winfield and Vladimir Guerrero. Additionally, Trout is the fifth player to hit at least 400 home runs and steal at least 200 bases before turning 33, along with Willie Mays, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, and Alex Rodriguez. Among active players, only Giancarlo Stanton has hit more home runs than Trout. Trout reached 1,000 RBIs in July with home run number 397. With a career batting average of .294, Trout is batting only .229 this season, although his 22 home runs and 59 RBIs are his best figures in three years after suffering injury-shortened seasons in 2023 and 2024. Before Saturday’s game, Trout had only hit one home run in his previous 36 games.

I enjoy playing this game. Obviously, there will be ups and downs. That’s part of it. It’s always going to be a challenge. That’s what I love about it. You feel a little humbled when you feel like you go out and have so much success and then go through tough times. That’s what’s happened to me. It’s good to finally reach this milestone.
