Classic PSG vs. Marseille Postponed: Storms Force Changes

The expected classic between Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille has been rescheduled for Monday night, according to the organizers. The decision was made due to the strong storms forecast.

This date change directly coincides with the Ballon d’Or ceremony, which will take place at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. Several of PSG’s most important stars, who are competing for individual awards, are expected to attend the event.

Among the outstanding nominees is Ousmane Dembélé, who is considered one of the main contenders for the men’s Ballon d’Or. With the “Le Classique” match now scheduled for the same time in Marseille, Dembélé will be in need of making a decision.

Heavy storms are expected on Sunday in the French region of Bouches-du-Rhône, which is under orange alert for rain, floods, and thunderstorms. Last year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony was affected by the absence of Real Madrid, European champions at the time, because Vinícius Júnior was not considered for the main award, which ultimately went to Rodri of Manchester City. This year, the event could face a similar situation, although for different reasons. PSG, who won the Champions League in May and the European Super Cup in August, could see their key players divided between the match and the ceremony.
