Hawks Send Kobe Bufkin to the Nets
The Atlanta Hawks have finalized a deal to trade guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for financial considerations, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Bufkin, selected by the Hawks with the 15th pick in the 2023 NBA draft, has a salary of $5.4 million for the current season and a team option for $6.9 million for the 2026-27 season.
This operation gives the Hawks greater flexibility in their roster, as well as generating a $4.5 million trade exception. For Bufkin, 21, it represents a new opportunity in Brooklyn.
Following this move, the Nets have $11.6 million in cap space and have 15 players with guaranteed contracts.
In his two seasons with the Hawks, Bufkin participated in 27 games. In the G League, he averaged 23.6 points in 14 games during the 2023-24 season.
