Stacy Lewis Announces Retirement from the LPGA Tour

American golfer Stacy Lewis, a two-time major champion and former world number one, has announced that the 2024 season will be her last on the LPGA Tour. The 40-year-old athlete made the announcement through a social media post, where she expressed that her body has indicated that it is time to end her career.

I never in a million years would have thought that this golf journey would continue in 2025, but the time has come to put the clubs away.

Lewis’s career in professional golf is full of successes. She joined the LPGA Tour in 2009, after a distinguished career at the University of Arkansas, and achieved 13 victories, including titles at the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship and the 2013 Women’s British Open, both majors. Lewis was a two-time LPGA Tour Player of the Year (2012, ’14) and ranks 14th on the all-time money list, with over $14 million earned in 374 events. In addition, she was part of four Solheim Cup teams as a player and then captained the team that defeated Europe in September 2024. In her message, Lewis expressed her pride in the progress of the LPGA Tour and encouraged her colleagues to continue driving the sport forward.

I have taken care of the LPGA Tour as if it were my own child and I am very proud of the progress we have made, but to my colleagues, we are not finished! I hope that you all continue to push the tour and do everything possible to help on and off the field.
