Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Reds keep their postseason hopes intact after a 7-4 victory against the Chicago Cubs this Friday at Great American Ball Park. The match was marked by the offensive power of the home team.
Elly De La Cruz and Spencer Steer were the standout figures, connecting back-to-back home runs that fueled the Reds’ offense.
Steer, with two home runs on the night, put the Reds ahead in the sixth inning. Immediately afterwards, De La Cruz broke a streak of 43 games without hitting a home run, both adding their twentieth hit of the season.
In total, Cincinnati hit five home runs, their most in a game this season. Miguel Andújar and Matt McLain also contributed with their home runs.

The victory represents the third consecutive for the Reds (78-76), who began the day tied with the Diamondbacks and two games behind the Mets in the race for the last wild card in the National League.
Starting pitcher Nick Lodolo worked 4.2 innings, allowing four runs. The bullpen secured the win after outstanding offensive performances by Steer and De La Cruz.
