Messi Leads Inter Miami to Victory Over Seattle Sounders

Lionel Messi shone with a goal and an assist, guiding Inter Miami CF to a resounding 3-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders on Tuesday night. This triumph comes after the defeat suffered by the Miami team against the Sounders in the Leagues Cup final just over two weeks ago. The match, played on US soil, saw Messi demonstrate his quality once again. After the defeat in the Leagues Cup where Seattle Sounders won 3-0, Messi redeemed himself by assisting Jordi Alba with a masterful pass with the outside of his foot in the 12th minute, which gave the Herons an early lead. In the 28th minute, Messi came close to extending the lead, but his shot hit the post. Alba returned the favor in the 41st minute, assisting Messi, who scored the second goal of the match. Ian Fray, with a header after a corner by Rodrigo De Paul, extended the lead to 3-0 for the Herons at the start of the second half. Obed Vargas scored the only goal for Seattle in the 69th minute. Inter Miami played without Luis Suárez, who served his second match suspension after the incident in the Leagues Cup final. Messi had the opportunity to score another goal in the 76th minute, but was stopped by Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei. Mateo Silvetti, the new addition to Inter Miami, made his debut after arriving from Messi’s youth club, Newell’s Old Boys. The MLS action continues for both teams. Inter Miami will host D.C. United on Saturday, while the Sounders will visit Austin FC on Sunday.
