Ahkello Witherspoon Suffers Broken Collarbone, Significant Loss for the Rams
Los Angeles Rams cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon suffered a fractured collarbone during Sunday’s game, according to head coach Sean McVay. Witherspoon left the game in the second quarter of the 33-19 victory over the Tennessee Titans and was ruled out for the rest of the game. McVay called the injury “unfortunate” for Witherspoon and “a big loss” for the Rams. In the first week of the season, the Rams rotated cornerbacks between Witherspoon, Emmanuel Forbes, and Cobie Durant. Veteran Darious Williams did not participate in that game. On Sunday, against the Titans, Williams played 26 defensive snaps (40.6%) following Witherspoon’s injury.Witherspoon, who signed a one-year contract during the offseason, has played for the Rams since 2023. In 13 games last season, Witherspoon recorded one interception, nine passes defended, and 31 tackles.I thought it was incredible that Williams was ready. We said we have four starting cornerbacks. We feel that way. I feel terrible for Ahkello. I love him. It’s a shame. But you feel fortunate to have the depth where a guy like D Will can step up to be able to complement both Decobie Durant and Forbes.
