Molly McCann achieved a knockout victory in her professional boxing debut.
Molly McCann, former MMA champion, proved her worth in the boxing world by defeating Kate Radomska by stoppage in the sixth round. The fight took place on Saturday in Belfast, marking the beginning of her professional career in this sport.
McCann, who retired from mixed martial arts after her defeat to Alexia Thainara in March during the UFC London event, signed a contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom to compete in ten boxing matches.
From the start, McCann set the pace, proving to be faster and more precise than Radomska. The fight unfolded with intensity, and although there were moments of tension, such as an apparent illegal blow in the second round, McCann maintained control.
In the fifth round, Radomska was sent to the canvas after a powerful right hand from McCann. Radomska’s corner decided to stop the fight in the sixth round, given the punishment she was receiving.
It’s been a brilliant week, I’ve enjoyed myself. There have been valuable lessons learned and I relaxed a little. I’ve gone 18 months without a win, so there was a little pressure.
Molly McCann
McCann expressed his satisfaction after the fight, highlighting the learning and overcoming the pressure of returning to victory.
