Kelvin Gastelum Fails to Make Weight Again, This Time at Middleweight

UFC veteran Kelvin Gastelum has once again had issues with weight. This time, in his foray into the middleweight category, Gastelum failed to meet the weight requirement for the fourth time in his career. Gastelum, 33, weighed in at 191 pounds, exceeding the 185-pound limit for his scheduled fight against Dustin Stoltzfus at Saturday’s UFC Noche event. Stoltzfus, who did make weight, agreed to continue with the fight. As a result, he will receive 35% of Gastelum’s purse. Gastelum (19-10) has a history of weight issues, primarily in the welterweight category. In 2014 and 2015, he failed to make weight for 170-pound fights. Following the incident, the UFC forced him to move up to middleweight. Gastelum, interim champion, has a 3-7 record in his last 10 appearances.
