Malcolm Brogdon Bolsters the Knicks with a One-Year Contract

Free agent guard Malcolm Brogdon has agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Knicks, according to his agent Sam Permut of Roc Nation.

In his tenth season in the NBA, Brogdon, former Sixth Man of the Year, will provide depth and reserve play to the Knicks’ backcourt.

Brogdon is expected to have an important role in the team’s rotation under the direction of the new coach, Mike Brown. He joins Landry Shamet, who also signed a one-year contract, to complete the Knicks’ roster.

Brogdon, 32, averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in 24 games last season with the Washington Wizards.

Although his three-point percentage was 29% last season, Brogdon had an impressive 43% on three-pointers between the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, ranking fourth among players with at least 300 attempts in that period.

Brogdon won the Rookie of the Year award in 2016-17 and the Sixth Man of the Year in 2022-23, being one of the two players in NBA history to obtain both awards, along with Mike Miller.

In the last three seasons, he has played for the Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers and Boston Celtics. Previously, he split his first six NBA seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers.
