Joseph Parker Warns Fabio Wardley: “You’re Not at My Level”

The boxer Joseph Parker has issued a strong warning to Fabio Wardley, stating that the Briton is not yet at his level. The statement comes ahead of their crucial heavyweight fight, scheduled for October 25. The fight, which will take place at the O2 Arena in London, will put the WBO and WBA interim titles on the line, and will give the winner the opportunity to face Oleksandr Usyk. Parker, the current WBO interim champion, was originally scheduled to fight Usyk in July for the undisputed title. However, the organization granted Usyk a 90-day medical exemption to fully recover after his knockout victory over Daniel Dubois.

This situation gives Usyk more time to decide his next move. The Ukrainian will have to choose between fighting the winner of the Parker-Wardley fight or vacating the title. Parker, who has been waiting for a title opportunity after victories over Zhilei Zhang, Deontay Wilder and Martin Bakole, expressed that Wardley lacks the necessary experience to beat him.

Walking into the fire? I love the fire. I’ve fought a lot of punchers with big punches, and they’ve really been able to take me out of there,” Parker said at a pre-fight press conference.

Parker added: “There are levels. I think with the experience I have and what I’ve been working on in New Zealand, I’m excited to see what I can do in the ring. I’m a different boxer than the ones he has faced before.” Wardley, for his part, is coming off an impressive knockout victory over Justis Huni in June and has called this fight a turning point in his career.

Great moment, turning point [for me] probably. I am committed to that saying of only great fights. I haven’t come here to play or to wait for things to be handed to me. I think I’ve marked the right amount of milestones. I have enough experience to take me to a top-level fight,” Wardley stated.

Meanwhile, Usyk will await the outcome of the October fight. Sergey Lapin, CEO of Usyk’s team, confirmed that they are considering their next steps. “At this time, our team is considering new opportunities and an exciting location to host another undisputed world championship fight,” Lapin said. The anticipation grows as the date of the Parker vs. Wardley showdown approaches, with an eye on the possibility of a clash with Usyk.
