Dolphins Suffer Significant Injuries

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins face a complicated situation after the first game of the season. The team will be affected by the absence of at least two key starters, according to coach Mike McDaniel. James Daniels and Storm Duck’s injuries, suffered in Sunday’s game, will force the Dolphins to make adjustments to their lineup. James Daniels, right guard, suffered a pectoral injury during the first offensive series against the Indianapolis Colts and was unable to return to the game. Cornerback Storm Duck injured his ankle midway through the second quarter.

“With James, it’s not something that ends the season. He won’t be available this week and it looks like he’ll be out for a couple of weeks. We are evaluating the recovery time and the management of the squad that this entails”.

McDaniel also indicated that Storm Duck will be out for a couple of weeks. Kion Smith and Rasul Douglas were in charge of replacing Daniels and Duck, respectively, and are expected to be starters in the next games. Additionally, the Dolphins might have to do without starting right tackle Austin Jackson and defensive tackle Benito Jones. Jackson injured a toe at the end of Sunday’s game and couldn’t return to the game. Jones, for his part, is under weekly evaluation, although McDaniel did not rule out his participation in the next game against the New England Patriots.
