In a tragic event that has shocked the basketball world, Toraya Reid, sister of Minnesota Timberwolves player Naz Reid, was shot and killed at an apartment complex in Jackson, New Jersey.
Authorities reported that the victim’s boyfriend, Shaquille Green, has been charged with murder.
Incident Details
The police responded to a call about shots fired at the Paragon complex on Saturday around 11 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Toraya Reid, 28, unconscious near the exit of the complex. The young woman had multiple gunshot wounds.
Shaquille Green, 29 years old and a resident of Jackson, was located running on a nearby road and was arrested without incident. In addition to the murder charge, Green faces two weapons-related charges.
Reid and Green were in a romantic relationship.
Green remains in custody and authorities have not confirmed whether he has hired a lawyer.
Naz Reid’s Career
Naz Reid, 25, is preparing for his seventh season with the Timberwolves. The player, a native of New Jersey, recently signed a five-year contract with the team. Reid was awarded the NBA’s “Sixth Man of the Year” in the 2023-2024 season.
