Ederson Leaves Manchester City, Donnarumma Arrives

Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson has ended his time at Manchester City, after finalizing his transfer to Fenerbahce for 12.1 million pounds (approximately 16 million dollars). This transfer paves the way for the Premier League club to secure the services of Gianluigi Donnarumma, from Paris Saint-Germain. It is expected that City will pay PSG £26 million for Donnarumma, who will sign a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium. The deal was finalized before Monday’s transfer deadline and is expected to be officially announced on Tuesday. Donnarumma will compete for the starting position with James Trafford, 22, who returned to City from Burnley at the beginning of the summer. Trafford has started in City’s first three Premier League matches, but received criticism for his performance in the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham.
  • Ederson won the Champions League, six Premier League titles, and six domestic cups during his eight seasons at City.

“Under Pep’s direction, we have dominated the Premier League and conquered Europe. It’s been incredible… I arrived in Manchester eight years ago full of hope, but I couldn’t have predicted such a beautiful time together,” declared Éderson.

“Playing for City has been the most special moment of my life and I will always be a fan of this special club. I am leaving with my wife and children, but I am leaving a great family here, Cityzens. Once blue, always blue”.
