Verstappen reveals the truth about his future in Formula 1
The current Formula 1 world champion, Max Verstappen, has shared his perspective on the rumors that circulated about his possible departure from Red Bull. The Dutch driver has assured that his contractual situation was always simpler than what was publicly speculated. Before the Formula 1 summer break, Verstappen confirmed his stay at Red Bull until 2028, clearing up doubts about a possible move to Mercedes, where Toto Wolff had publicly expressed his interest. Much of the speculation about Verstappen’s departure was based on a clause in his contract that ultimately was not activated, due to his position in the championship.Verstappen explained that he never had any doubts about where he would be racing in 2026. The driver added that he prefers to focus on performance and not give importance to the stories or questions that arise. For me, it was very, very simple anyway. I just say what I want to say. And I was never stressed about it at all because… of course, naturally you always want to win. But at the same time, you just work on the performance.
