Astros Suffer Catcher’s Injury: Caratini to the Concussion List

The Houston Astros face a challenge at the catcher position after placing Víctor Caratini on the concussion injured list. This situation complicates the situation for the team, leader in the American League West Division.

Yainer Diaz, another Astros catcher, is also dealing with a left wrist injury, with his status being day-to-day. Diaz was hit by a wild pitch from Craig Kimbrel during the eighth inning of Sunday’s game.

Faced with this situation, the Astros have called up catcher César Salazar from Triple-A Sugar Land, who was the starting player in Wednesday night’s game against Colorado.

Caratini suffered the impact of a foul ball to the mask during the ninth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies. So far this season, Caratini is batting .262 with 43 RBIs, the most in his career, and ties his career high with 11 home runs in 95 games.

For his part, Diaz has a batting average of .257 with 18 home runs and 55 RBIs in 116 games this season.
