Cam Smith to the injured list
Miami Dolphins cornerback Cam Smith will be placed on the non-football injury list, according to general manager Chris Grier.
Smith, who played in only six games last season due to injuries, was in an open competition for a starting position in the cornerback corps at the start of this year’s training camp. However, an injury suffered during the first week of camp relegated him on the depth chart.
With the list of injured players for reasons unrelated to football, we don’t talk publicly about what’s happening. Cam has played his best football in the last two weeks, he’s been very good, so we’ll see what happens. We’ll work on it and see what happens later.

The team has signed Rasul Douglas to a one-year contract.
Update on Achane and other moves
Starting running back De’Von Achane has missed the last two weeks of practice due to a calf injury. However, Grier indicated that all signs point to the 2023 third-round draft pick being ready for the Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Additionally, the Dolphins plan to add several veteran free agent running backs to their practice squad. Ollie Gordon II is the only healthy running back currently on the team.
Miami will also sign offensive lineman Kendall Lamm to bolster the offensive line and will add kicker Riley Patterson to its practice squad, who is expected to take over kicking duties at the start of the season.
Lamm, who played the last three seasons with the Dolphins, was the team’s primary backup tackle. Patterson played five games for three teams last season, making 4 of 7 field goal attempts. The Dolphins plan to activate him for at least the first three games while Jason Sanders is on the injured reserve list.
