Caitlyn Halse: Dream Debut at the Rugby World Cup

In a historic day, the young Caitlyn Halse, only 18 years old, described her debut in the World Cup as “surreal” and “simply amazing”, after Australia’s resounding victory over Samoa with a score of 73-0. Halse, originally from Picton, New South Wales, became the youngest Australian player to participate in a Women’s Rugby World Cup. The athlete celebrated her debut with two tries, contributing to the Wallaroos’ record victory. With 11 international matches prior to the tournament, Halse revealed that his goal was to be part of the World Cup team from the beginning of 2024. His dream came true at the Salford Stadium.

I would probably say it’s surreal. Being there, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a stadium with so many fans watching me play.

This strength, according to the player, will be key for the crucial match against the United States next week.

It was a full 80-minute match, they are very tough [Samoa], they had many opportunities, but we stopped them. We can take a lot of confidence from that.

Australia’s offensive ability, evidenced by Halse’s brace and Desiree Miller’s hat-trick, demonstrated the team’s potential when deploying their attacking game. Halse also mentioned the absence of Charlotte Caslick due to injury, but highlighted the ability of the remaining players, such as Desiree and Maya, to generate points.

Unfortunately, we lost Charlotte before the tournament due to an ankle injury, but we have strong finishers like Desiree and Maya and myself today.
