Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Erickson Lubin: Clash in the Ring on November 8th

On November 8th, boxing fans will be able to enjoy an exciting match when Vergil Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KOs) defends his WBC interim super welterweight title against Erickson Lubin at the Dickies Center in Fort Worth, TX. The event will be broadcast live worldwide via DAZN.

This fight marks Ortiz’s return to the ring, who comes from an outstanding decision victory over Israil Madrimov in February. For Ortiz, it will be a home fight, which adds an extra element of excitement to the event.

I’m always happy to be part of the fights that the fans want to see.

Although this fight was not the one Ortiz initially sought, his team quickly secured the fight with Lubin after negotiations with WBO champion Xander Zayas failed to reach an agreement.

Ortiz’s manager, Rick Mirigan, commented on the difficulty of finding an opponent willing to face Ortiz.

Golden Boy literally tried with every major opponent out there for us and nobody wanted to fight Vergil. Even His Excellency (Turki Alalshikh) tried by offering ‘Boots’ a life-changing amount of money and he said no to a tune-up fight. Vergil Ortiz is the most feared man in boxing. Credit to Lubin for doing what nobody else would.

Erickson Lubin (27-2, 19 KOs), currently ranked number 1 by the IBF in super welterweight, will seek to surprise and obtain the most important victory of his career. Lubin has won three consecutive fights after his defeat to the current WBC champion, Sebastian Fundora, in April 2022. Lubin, 29, has achieved victories over Jeison Rosario and Jesus Ramos, and his other defeat was against Jermell Charlo in 2017, in a fight for the WBC super welterweight title.

This is the moment I’ve been waiting for. This fight is about redemption; I’m back for everything.
