PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Pirates have decided to promote their promising pitcher, Bubba Chandler, to the Major Leagues. The 22-year-old right-hander will join the team before Friday’s game against the Colorado Rockies.Chandler is expected to be added to the active roster on Friday.
The news was confirmed by a source close to the decision, who requested anonymity until the move was official.
Chandler will join a pitching staff that already includes Paul Skenes, who was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2024.
The Pirates are readjusting their pitching rotation after sending veteran left-hander Andrew Heaney to the bullpen last weekend.
Chandler had a promising start in Triple-A this season, but has had some setbacks recently. Currently, his record is 5-6 with an ERA of 4.05 this year for Indianapolis.
