Bay FC Seeks to Break Attendance Record in Historic Match

Bay FC is on the verge of officially surpassing the NWSL’s single-match attendance record in its upcoming match against the Washington Spirit, scheduled for Friday at Oracle Park. The team aims to attract more than 40,000 fans to the stadium, home of the MLB’s San Francisco Giants, for this crucial match. So far, over 35,000 tickets have been sold for the event.

We are incredibly proud of what this match means for Bay FC, for the Bay Area, and for the NWSL. Setting a new attendance record is a reflection of the passion and energy our fans bring every time we take the field. The Bay FC plays its home matches at PayPal Park in San José, where it averages over 13,400 fans per match. Last year, the team played against the Chicago Stars FC at Wrigley Field, attracting a league record of 35,038 fans. Despite being five games without a win, the club is still only three points away from the last playoff spot. They recently suffered a 2-1 home defeat to the San Diego Wave FC on Saturday. The NWSL has established 48 of the 50 highest-attended matches in the history of women’s professional leagues in the United States.

This is a historic moment not only for Bay FC or the NWSL, but for the future of women’s professional sports in the United States. Breaking the league’s single-match attendance record in such an iconic venue as Oracle Park is a testament to the growing demand, passion, and momentum behind our league.

The match on Friday is just the beginning of the celebration of women’s soccer in the Bay Area, as they prepare to host the 2025 NWSL Championship in November, and the energy and enthusiasm seen now set the stage for an unforgettable season finale.
