Jannik Sinner Finds New Partner for US Open Mixed Doubles

Tennis player Jannik Sinner has confirmed his participation in the mixed doubles tournament of the US Open, presenting a new partner for the competition. The announcement comes on the eve of the event, where prominent figures such as Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz will face the number one seeded team in the first round. The tournament, which has a total of 16 teams, concluded its registration phase on Sunday. The draw was held before the start of the two-day event, scheduled to begin on Tuesday, and which will award a prize of one million dollars to the winning team. Alcaraz and Raducanu, both US Open singles champions in previous editions, will face the team of Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper, who qualified as the number one seed due to their lower combined singles ranking. Sinner, currently at the top of the ranking, will play alongside Katerina Siniakova, ten-time champion of women’s doubles in major tournaments. Initially, Sinner was scheduled to partner with Emma Navarro, but the latter withdrew to participate in the women’s tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, next week. Other teams that joined the event on Sunday include Naomi Osaka and Gael Monfils, Karolina Muchova and Andrey Rublev, as well as Caty McNally and Lorenzo Musetti. Musetti was going to play with Jasmine Paolini, but the latter, after playing against Iga Swiatek in the Cincinnati final on Monday, chose to withdraw. Swiatek, for her part, remains in the tournament along with Casper Ruud. Sinner and Alcaraz, who will face each other in the men’s final, will have a short rest period before their respective doubles debuts in New York. Sinner and Siniakova, who received one of the eight invitations, will face Alexander Zverev and Belinda Bencic in their first match.
