The TGL Returns with Excitement: Rematch at the Opening
The second season of TGL, the innovative technology-driven golf league, is set to begin on December 28th. The inaugural event will feature a rematch of last year’s championship series, pitting Atlanta Drive GC against New York GC at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The exciting opening match will be broadcast on ABC at 3 p.m. ET. The league, led by figures like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, has confirmed that the full season schedule will be announced this fall. In the inaugural season, Atlanta Drive was crowned champion by winning the first two games of the best-of-three series, securing the SoFi Cup. In the decisive match, Atlanta achieved a remarkable comeback, overcoming a 3-0 deficit after 11 holes and ultimately winning 4-3 to secure the title.The Atlanta Drive GC team featured prominent golfers such as Cantlay, Justin Thomas, Billy Horschel, and Lucas Glover, and is owned, among others, by Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons. New York GC was led by Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, and Cameron Young. The second season will maintain the six original teams, including Boston Common Golf, Jupiter Links GC, Los Angeles Golf Club, and The Bay Golf Club. In May, the league announced the addition of Motor City Golf Club, representing Detroit, as its first expansion franchise in 2027. The league is also considering expansion opportunities in cities like Chicago and Dallas, among others.The inaugural TGL season presented by SoFi exceeded all expectations, and Season 2 begins with the first TGL match on ABC, a rematch of last season’s Finals between Atlanta and New York. This offseason we have focused on improving the fan experience and we are eager to welcome fans and teams back to the SoFi Center in December.
