Højlund Out vs Arsenal: End of an Era at Manchester United?

Rasmus Højlund, the new addition to Manchester United, will not be part of the team for the opening Premier League match against Arsenal this Sunday. Højlund’s situation at Old Trafford becomes increasingly uncertain after the arrival of Benjamin Sesko this summer, coming from RB Leipzig. Sources close to Alofoke Deportes have revealed that AC Milan has shown interest in a one-season loan for Højlund, with an option to buy next summer. Although the Danish striker is reluctant to leave Manchester United, he fears he may have to seek a new destination to secure regular playing time this season. Højlund has made it clear, both publicly and privately to the club’s directors, his desire to stay at United. However, after being a substitute in the pre-season friendly against Fiorentina, the 22-year-old player is considering his options.

Højlund arrived at United in 2023, from Atalanta. Since his arrival in the Premier League, he has struggled to establish himself as the club’s starting striker, scoring 14 goals in 63 appearances. Regarding the team’s current situation, André Onana will also be absent from the United squad. Sesko has been included on the bench and could debut with United alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

Meanwhile, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has chosen to field his new signing, striker Viktor Gyökeres, who will seek to make an immediate impact at Old Trafford. The also new signing, Martín Zubimendi, will play alongside Declan Rice in the Arsenal midfield.
