Amaury Nina Academy mourns the passing of Gustavo Talmar

Santo Domingo.- The Amaury Nina Academy, recognized for its work in training young baseball talents, has expressed its deep sorrow for the death of prospect Gustavo Talmaré, only 14 years old. The tragic event occurred early this Saturday morning, due to drowning in a lagoon. According to information provided by the academy, the young baseball player participated in a practice game on Friday afternoon at the facilities of the sports complex located in Santo Domingo Este. After the training, Talmaré moved with four other teammates to a lagoon located 40 minutes away, where the unfortunate tragedy occurred.

“This is a devastating moment. Gustavo was not only a promising talent, he was a young man full of dreams and human qualities that made him very special to everyone. On behalf of the Amaury Nina Academy, we send our most sincere condolences and all our solidarity to his parents, family and friends in this painful moment,” expressed Nina, coach and owner of the academy.

The lifeless body of the young athlete was recovered by the rescue teams, including 911 and the Dominican Air Force, who worked hard throughout the night and early morning of Saturday. Talmaré, known for his dedication and talent on the field, was part of the Dominican Republic team that competed in the Caribbean Series Kids 2024, held in Panama. During the tournament, the young prospect was awarded as Most Valuable Player, standing out as a leader in home runs.
