Tampa Bay Lightning’s Home Gets a New Name
TAMPA, Fla. – The venue that houses the Tampa Bay Lightning will now be known as Benchmark International Arena, following a multi-year agreement revealed on Wednesday by the NHL team with the mergers and acquisitions firm. The change takes effect immediately. The building, which opened in 1996, had been known as Amalie Arena since 2014, and was the venue where the Lightning lifted the Stanley Cup in 2021, marking their second consecutive championship. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Benchmark International and Vinik Sports Group, owner of the Lightning, reported that their partnership includes more than $3 million in non-profit contributions to benefit the community.Griggs also added that Amalie Motor Oil will continue to be a corporate partner of the organization.Steve Griggs, CEO of Vinik Sports Group, described Benchmark as “a respected brand with global reach and strong ties to the Tampa Bay community.”
