En las dos ocasiones anteriores en que los Cerveceros ganaron 12 juegos seguidos desde que la promoción se redujo a una docena de victorias en 1970, George Webb Restaurants regaló un total de 360,000 hamburguesas y vales. The free burger promotion dates back to the 1940s, when the minor league Brewers played in Milwaukee. George Webb promised free burgers if the home team won 17 consecutive games. The promotion was reduced to 13 games when the Braves made Milwaukee a Major League city in 1953, but that franchise couldn’t make it before moving to Atlanta in 1966.George Webb changed the promotion to 12 games when the Brewers moved from Seattle in 1970. In 1987, the Brewers started the season with 13 consecutive wins, and over 170,000 hamburgers were given away to celebrate the occasion. The Brewers achieved the feat for the second time in 2018, closing the regular season with eight straight wins and four wins in the playoffs. That streak led to the delivery of 90,000 free hamburgers, in addition to 100,000 redeemable vouchers. Before reaching the magical mark on Wednesday, the Brewers were close on a few occasions, including an 11-game winning streak earlier this season.
