A’ja Wilson Makes WNBA History with Unprecedented Achievement
Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson made WNBA history by becoming the first player to record a 30-point, 20-rebound double-double. Aces coach Becky Hammon described the feat as natural for Wilson.Wilson finished the game with 32 points, hitting 13 of 25 shots, and achieved his second career game with 20 rebounds. This led the Aces to a 94-86 victory over the Connecticut Sun last Sunday night. This was his fourteenth double-double of the season and his sixth career game with at least 30 points and 15 rebounds, tying Tina Charles for the most in WNBA history. Wilson also reached his 30th game in his career with 30 or more points. It’s just A’ja being A’ja.

Her teammate Jackie Young highlighted Wilson’s ability to constantly surprise. It’s huge. I didn’t know, with so many great players we have in this league, that this was happening just now. It’s a blessing. I love what I do. I love what I do so much, so whenever I can go out and play basketball the way I like, and the team, and we all get involved, I’m happy with that.

Wilson, who this season became the fastest and second youngest player to reach 5,000 career points, leads in 30-point games since entering the league in 2018.Every night she shows up, and I think that’s why she’s so good at what she does. She’s a very hard worker, so it’s great to see her hard work pay off. At the same time, she’s being double-teamed, triple-teamed, and she has to navigate that and play off of that. She’s still able to put up incredible numbers every night.

It’s great to have my name in the record books when it comes to that. I’m pretty sure there will be many following. So yeah, it’s great to be the first.
