Jakob Marsee Impresses with the Marlins: Two-Run Homer and RBI Record
Jakob Marsee is making a splash in his first appearances in the Major Leagues with the Miami Marlins. Marsee hit two home runs and tied a franchise record with seven RBIs in Miami’s 13-4 victory in Cleveland on Wednesday night. The young player drove in three runs in the first inning, a two-run homer in the fifth, and a two-run double in the sixth.The center fielder, known for his speed, also hit a single and stole second base in the second inning, although he was stranded. Marsee, 24, was called up by Miami on August 1. In his first 12 games, he reached base safely 10 times, accumulating 13 hits and nine walks. After his four-hit night against Cleveland, he’s batting .436 (17-for-39) with three home runs, 13 RBIs, and six steals in 13 games in the majors. He also has an on-base percentage of .542. Marsee was selected by San Diego in the sixth round of the 2022 amateur draft from Central Michigan University. He was traded to Miami in the deal for Luis Arraez in May 2024. Before being promoted by the Marlins, he batted .246 with 14 home runs, 37 RBIs, and 47 steals in 98 games for Triple-A Jacksonville. In the first inning, with two outs and two runners on base, Marsee hit a pitch from Gavin Williams to right field, giving Miami a 4-0 lead. Marsee’s second home run of the season traveled 403 feet with an exit velocity of 105.4 mph. In the fifth inning, he connected on a two-run home run against Kolby Allard, putting the Marlins ahead 6-4. The 385-foot blast was the hardest ball he has hit in his career, at 107.6 mph.It’s obviously an honor and something super special. But, in reality, that doesn’t matter much. I just want to win, so anything I can do to help the team win.
