Alonso praises Bortoleto after the Hungarian Grand Prix
The renowned driver Fernando Alonso has expressed his admiration for Gabriel Bortoleto’s performance, calling him the “best rookie of his generation.” This statement comes after the Brazilian’s outstanding performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Bortoleto, at just 20 years old, achieved a meritorious sixth place in Budapest, just behind Alonso, who finished in fifth place. This result allowed him to score points for the third time in the last four races.
He makes few mistakes, always pushing. He is the best rookie of this generation.

Bortoleto has shown remarkable progress, especially after a complicated start to the season. His performance has been key for Sauber to climb to eighth position in the constructors’ championship, placing them one point behind Aston Martin.
Bortoleto himself shared his feelings: “I was a very novice driver when I started the season, but that’s normal and you progress a lot. I feel like I’ve learned a lot. We did an incredible job in Hungary, the team gave me an incredible car for today’s race. We managed to put everything in place. The strategy was great. I don’t see how we could have finished this first half of the season any better.”
Formula 1 now enters its summer break, with the Dutch Grand Prix scheduled for August 31st.
