Nick Lodolo to the Injured List for Blister on Finger
The Cincinnati Reds’ left-handed pitcher, Nick Lodolo, has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a blister on the index finger of his left hand. Lodolo left Monday’s game in the second inning after feeling discomfort in his finger. Manager Terry Francona went to the mound with a trainer after Lodolo showed gestures toward his left hand after retiring the first five batters against the Chicago Cubs.Lodolo, who suffered a blister last season, has an 8-6 record with a 3.05 ERA in 23 starts (the most of his career) and 129 2/3 innings. The pitcher had won his last three decisions before Monday’s game.Let’s err on the side of caution, because he’s dealt with this before.

In a move related to the roster, the Reds called up right-handed pitcher Yosver Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville. It really came on suddenly. I threw the slider… and I felt like the skin ripped on my finger. When I looked, there was like a bubble underneath, a bunch of fluids. So, before throwing another pitch, I figured it was best to stop, because I’ve been through that before and it takes a lot longer to heal.
