Rahaman Ali, brother of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, passes away

The boxing world mourns the loss of Rahaman Ali, younger brother of the iconic Muhammad Ali, who passed away at the age of 82. The Muhammad Ali Center announced the death, which occurred on Friday in Louisville, Kentucky. The cause of his death has not been revealed at this time. Rahaman followed in the footsteps of his older brother, starting a professional boxing career that spanned from 1964 to 1972. During this period, he accumulated a record of 14 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw. After his retirement, Rahaman remained close to Muhammad, even training alongside him.

In 2014, Rahaman co-wrote a book with boxing writer H. Ron Brashear, titled “That’s Muhammad Ali’s Brother! My Life on the Undercard”. Subsequently, in 2019, he published “My Brother, Muhammad Ali: The Definitive Biography”.

You cannot tell the story of Muhammad without mentioning Rahaman. He was one of the most constant sources of support for Muhammad during his career and their relationship was a true example of what it means to be ‘my brother’s keeper’.
