Piastri Describes Qualifying in Hungary As “Bizarre and Frustrating”
The driver Oscar Piastri expressed his bewilderment after the qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, where Charles Leclerc surprised by obtaining the pole position. Piastri, who had led the final practice, placed second, followed by Lando Norris in third position. Piastri, championship leader, was only 0.026 seconds behind Leclerc in Q3. Norris, for his part, had dominated the two practice sessions on Friday. Changing conditions, with clouds and wind, affected the cars’ performance in the final session. McLaren’s drivers were unable to improve their lap times.Piastri described his first lap as “terrible” because he pushed too hard, considering the wind direction from previous sessions. On his second lap, he tried to adjust his strategy, but the result was even worse. He acknowledged that the session was difficult for everyone and that he will need to analyze the data to understand the differences. It depends on where you’re sitting. If you’re where Charles is, fantastic. If you’re where I am, bizarre and a bit frustrating.
