Max Verstappen Confirms his Continued Commitment to Red Bull
The current Formula 1 champion, Max Verstappen, has cleared up any doubts about his future by confirming that he will remain at Red Bull next season. With this, the Dutch driver puts an end to the rumors circulating about his possible departure from the team. Speculation about Verstappen’s future intensified in recent weeks, especially after Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff expressed his interest in the driver. A clause had been mentioned in Verstappen’s contract with Red Bull that would allow him to leave the team at the end of 2025 if he was in fourth position or lower in the championship after this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix. After the Belgian Grand Prix, where Verstappen finished in fourth place, the driver remains in third position in the F1 standings, with a considerable advantage over George Russell, who is in fourth place.Verstappen signed his current contract with Red Bull in 2022, ensuring his stay with the team until the end of the 2028 season. The confirmation of Verstappen’s continued presence at Red Bull comes after Christian Horner’s departure as team principal following this month’s British Grand Prix. Horner, who had been with the team since his F1 debut in 2005, was replaced by Laurent Mekies, former team principal of Racing Bulls. Verstappen commented that Mekies’ arrival represents an opportunity for the team to reinvent itself and challenge some of the ways it has operated previously. «I like how Laurent is working. He is very motivated, constantly asking the right questions, both to me and the team. It’s nice to see. I hope that in the coming years we can see his impact on the team. I am very excited about that».“It’s interesting to see all those stories. For me, I never said anything because I was focused on talking to the team about how to improve our performance, ideas for next year. I think it’s time to stop the rumors. It was always clear that I would stay.”
