Newcastle United accelerates for Sesko as Isak generates uncertainty
Newcastle United has made a formal offer to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, according to sources close to the club. This move comes at a time of uncertainty surrounding the situation of star striker Alexander Isak, who, according to coach Eddie Howe, “is far from ideal”. The Premier League club seeks to keep Isak, while trying to strengthen its attack with a renowned striker. The interest in Sesko is also shared by Manchester United, which adds competition to the signing. Although the value of the offer has not been confirmed, reports from British media suggest that it could reach 69.7 million pounds sterling (92.5 million dollars). This news comes after Newcastle rejected an offer of £110 million (146 million dollars) from Liverpool for Isak.
Isak did not travel to Asia for Newcastle’s pre-season tour due to a “slight hamstring injury”, which sparked rumors about his possible discontent. Howe admitted that he found out that Isak was training with his former club, Real Sociedad, through the media. Newcastle has reportedly made a bid of 75 million euros ($86.9 million) to Leipzig, with an additional 5 million euros in potential add-ons.“I think from my situation, I’m very far removed from everything that’s happening at home,” Howe commented on Isak.
