The ASU2025 Junior Pan American Games torch arrived in the heart of Asunción, Paraguay, this Saturday, marking the countdown to the start of the competition that will be held from August 9 to 23. After a tour of the country’s 17 departments, the Pan-American flame arrived at the historic center of the capital, symbolizing the unity and sporting spirit that will characterize the games. A group of Paraguayan athletes carried the torch along the Costanera of Asunción, on the banks of the Paraguay River, performing 29 relays until reaching the emblematic Pantheon of Heroes. During its journey, the torch made significant stops at the Palacio de los López, seat of the Paraguayan Executive, and at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Asunción, where it was received by numerous citizens. The torch, which represents history, youth, and sports, was handed over to the president of Panam Sports, Neven Ilic, who, along with the head of the National Sports Secretariat, César Ramírez, celebrated the start of the event with the athletes.Ramírez assured that Paraguay is prepared to receive delegations from across the continent and that the Games will be an excellent opportunity to showcase the warmth of the Paraguayan people to athletes from 41 countries. Larissa Schaerer, coordinator of the ASU2025 Games, recalled that the torch was lit on July 6 in the Jesuit Missions of Trinidad de Paraná, in Itapúa, beginning its journey throughout Paraguay. The torch arrived in Asunción after passing through the National Sports Secretariat and the Olympic Park, located in Luque. Schaerer anticipated that the inauguration ceremony, scheduled for August 9, will be a unique spectacle with local artists and Paraguayan cultural roots, as well as international guests, marking the beginning of the ASU2025 Junior Pan American Games.(The Pan American fire) means much more than a symbolism, it means the union of the youth of all our continent, it means the Olympic spirit, of healthy competition, the desire to excel
