Leclerc Steals Pole from McLaren in Hungary
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc put in a standout performance in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, securing pole position ahead of the McLarens.
Leclerc set a time of 1:15.372, beating the McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Piastri placed second, just 26 thousandths of a second behind Leclerc, while Norris finished third, 41 thousandths of a second behind.
The McLaren team, which had shown solid performance during the weekend, was affected by the changing weather conditions.
The drop in temperatures and gusting wind impacted the performance of the Woking single-seaters, despite Piastri’s 16-point lead over Norris in the standings.
Leclerc thus positions himself as a strong contender for Sunday’s race, which will be held at 3:00 PM (1:00 PM GMT) at the Hungaroring circuit.
