The Chicago Blackhawks have secured the continuity of goaltender Arvid Soderblom with a two-year contract extension for $5.5 million, as announced on Saturday.

The agreement extends Soderblom’s stay with the team until the 2026-27 season. This agreement avoided the arbitration process.

Soderblom, 25, recorded a 10-18-7 mark last season, with a 3.18 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage in 36 games, of which he started 33. His numbers represented career highs in both wins and games played.

In his career with the Blackhawks, Soderblom has a record of 17-52-11, with a goals-against average of 3.55 and a save percentage of .889 in 86 games, starting in 77 of them. The goaltender joined the Blackhawks in 2021 as an undrafted free agent.
