Naomi Osaka and Patrick Mouratoglou: End of Collaboration

Tennis player Naomi Osaka and her coach Patrick Mouratoglou have ended their working relationship, as announced by the athlete herself through her social media. The news comes after less than a year of collaboration between the two. Osaka, winner of four Grand Slam titles, shared a message in which she thanked Mouratoglou for the experience. “Merci Patrick”, wrote the tennis player, accompanying the text with a photograph where they are seen together in a training session.

It was a great experience to learn from you. I wish you all the best. You are one of the coolest people I’ve met and I’m sure I’ll see you around.

This announcement comes a few days after Osaka suffered a defeat at the DC Open, and just before her participation in the Toronto tournament. The US Open, the last Grand Slam of the year, and where Osaka has achieved two victories, will begin on August 24 in New York. Mouratoglou, who previously coached Serena Williams, was hired by Osaka after the departure of Wim Fissette, shortly after her elimination in the second round of last year’s US Open. Currently, Osaka is ranked number 51 and has a record of 21-11 this season. The tennis player has not managed to get past the third round in a Grand Slam tournament since her victory at the Australian Open in 2021.
