Breanna Stewart Suffers Injury and Leaves the Game
New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart was forced to leave the game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday night due to a lower leg injury.
The player, who was only on the court for three minutes, had to withdraw from the game, as announced by the team. Before leaving, Stewart scored three points and achieved a rebound.
The injury appears to have occurred while Stewart was running on the court.
This game represented the second consecutive match for New York. In Friday’s victory against Phoenix, Stewart had a discreet performance in terms of scoring, with only six points, although he contributed eight rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals.
Before the game, Stewart was averaging 19 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game this season, contributing significantly to New York (17-6) holding the second-best record in the league.
The two-time WNBA MVP had not missed a game this season. After playing much of July at home, New York will have five away games in the next six.
