Caitlin Clark Rookie Card Reaches Record Figure at Auction

A signed rookie card of WNBA star Caitlin Clark fetched an astonishing $660,000 (including buyer’s premium) at an auction held Thursday night, setting a new record for a women’s sports card. The card, a one-of-a-kind (1 of 1) edition from the 2024 Panini Instant Rookie Royalty WNBA Flawless Platinum Caitlin Clark Logowoman series, was discovered live on the online shopping platform Whatnot three weeks ago. Ungraded, but sealed and encapsulated by Panini, the card went directly to auction through Fanatics Collect.

The previous record for a women’s sports card was the 2024 Clark Panini Prizm WNBA Signatures Gold Vinyl Prizm, which sold for $366,000 (including buyer’s premium) in March. That card was also a one-of-one edition (1 of 1) and received perfect 10 grades on both the card and autograph from Professional Sports Authenticator. Another Clark card, also from Panini’s recent Rookie Royalty WNBA series, could challenge the new record. A Clark Logowoman autographed and numbered 1 of 1 is currently at $219,600 (with buyer’s premium) on Goldin Auctions and is scheduled to enter an extended bidding on August 9.

Although Clark’s Rookie Royalty WNBA cards feature on-card autographs, unlike the $366,000 Prizm card which has a sticker autograph, the Logowoman badges are not game-worn nor used by the player.

Clark hasn’t played since July 15 due to a right groin injury. On Thursday, the Indiana Fever reported that there is no set timetable for her return.
