De Gea to Reveal Details of Failed Real Madrid Transfer
Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has announced that he will reveal the details of his failed transfer to Real Madrid once his professional career is over.
Currently at Fiorentina, De Gea expressed his belief that things happen “for a reason”.

De Gea’s transfer to Real Madrid was close to being finalized in the summer of 2015, but it was not completed due to problems with the documentation.
De Gea arrived at Manchester United in 2011 and won the Premier League in the 2012-13 season under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Additionally, he won the FA Cup in 2016 and the Europa League in 2017. He also celebrated victories in the Carabao Cup in 2017 and 2023.
The Spanish international left United in 2023 after his contract ended, having played 545 matches for the club.
Subsequently, he took a sabbatical year before joining Fiorentina in 2024 as a free agent.De Gea described his time away from football as “one of the best years of my life”.
“That sabbatical did me a lot of good, both mentally and physically: I was feeling a bit tired. I felt it was time to stop and come back stronger and it worked out well.”
He also revealed that, although he had offers from other English clubs, he couldn’t imagine playing for any team other than United.
“I just wanted to play for United because it’s the club where I developed, where I’ve been for most of my career, and I’ve had a very good career there. I also had offers from other countries.”
De Gea, 34 years old, kept 11 clean sheets in 42 appearances for Fiorentina last season.
Recently, he signed a new contract with Fiorentina that will keep him at the club until June 2028.
