Rico Hoey Leads Barracuda Championship with Outstanding Performance

In the Barracuda Championship, a unique PGA Tour event that uses the modified Stableford scoring system, Rico Hoey positions himself at the top after an impressive round. The golfer achieved his second consecutive round of 13 points, securing a one-point lead for the weekend. This tournament, which is played simultaneously with the British Open, offers players the opportunity to earn significant points. The scoring system rewards eight points for a double eagle, five for an eagle, and two for a birdie. On the other hand, one point is deducted for a bogey and three for a double bogey. Hoey demonstrated his skill at the Tahoe Mountain Club field, with six birdies and a bogey in his afternoon round. The player expressed his satisfaction with the course and his excitement to participate in the event.

I really like the field. I was lucky enough to participate here for the first time. I was given a sponsor’s invitation, so it’s something special for me and I hope to continue.

Max McGreevy and Erik van Rooyen, 2021 champion, share second place. McGreevy had an outstanding performance with an eagle on the 3rd hole, adding 16 points in the afternoon.

Just moving forward, having a lot of good opportunities. Today I managed to get some to fall early, which freed me up and allowed me to be a little more aggressive in some places.
