Blow to crime: National Police seizes illegal weapons and equipment in Montecristi
In a strategic deployment against criminality, agents of the Northwest Regional Directorate of the National Police carried out a series of operations and raids in the municipalities of Guayubín and Las Matas de Santa Cruz, Montecristi province. The operation, carried out this Friday, October 9, resulted in the seizure of illegal weaponry and slot machines that were operating outside the law.
The actions were coordinated by the Northwest Regional Sub-directorate of Intelligence (DINTEL), with the support of the Preventive Police and the Operational Department of Villa Vásquez, always under the supervision and authorization of the Public Ministry.
Details of the seizures in Guayubín
The El Pocito sector was the main point of the interventions. In one of the searched homes, linked to Gerald Rafael Valgas Santo, authorities seized a .380 caliber Glock pistol with its magazine and three cartridges. In a second procedure, carried out in a vehicle owned by an individual nicknamed “El Gordo”, another Glock pistol, model F17, 9 millimeter caliber, was found.
Additionally, the agents intervened at the Mariela grocery store, where a slot machine was confiscated. During a targeted operation on Proyecto Street in the same sector, a second gambling machine was seized, which will be placed at the disposal of the competent authorities.
Actions in Las Matas de Santa Cruz
Simultaneously, in the Barrio Lindo sector of Las Matas de Santa Cruz, law enforcement conducted a raid on a property linked to an individual known as “Pollo.” Although the individual was not at the scene, officers managed to recover two bladed weapons during the search, thereby reinforcing measures to prevent criminal acts in the area.
The Northwest Regional Directorate of the National Police reaffirmed its commitment to citizen security, ensuring that it will maintain these preventive actions constantly to eradicate illicit activities throughout the region.
